Natural form and poetic beauty was the inspiration for the Light Garden. It might seem clichéd but I have been inspired by two aspects of my life, one here in Sydney and the other in the Canadian forests. Living eight years of my life in Canada, I ventured out into the mountains, mostly snowboarding. In between the action I would sometimes find myself admiring the way the light burst through the trees in the morning sun. The way the sun hit the trees was stunning, as the rays of light almost burst through the branches, leaving the trees in silhouette. This was a strong image and it has inspired me more than I expected.  Now living in Sydney, I have come to notice the abundance of buildings covered in vines, in particular the bougainvillea. I really enjoy the green wall they create as the plants seem to engulf the facade and grow on their own path throughout our city. The growth looks to have no immediate regard for our city structures however, it is governed by its search for photosynthetic energy from the sun. I enjoy the idea of nature creeping into our busy lives, seemingly unacknowledged. The energy efficient Light Garden allows you to create a custom experience limited only by your imagination. Whether you have one or one hundred fittings, the modular functionality allows you to create an organic and abstract pattern across a surface, allowing each installation to be come a completely unique piece. The personalised garden of light brings the essence of natural inspiration into the space.
The fitting is Energy efficient as it is internally lit by LED lighting, giving the effect of light bursting through the fitting like the sun through the branches of the trees in a forest. The diffuser can be finished in a multitude of eco-friendly materials and colours, can can also be customised to your specifications.  The light fittings become a manufactured vine, custom created by the you. As the fitting grows across the wall you can create a garden of light, bringing an essence of nature into the space. The Light Garden has recently Won the Saturday In Design - Big River Timber to Tokyo Competition, placed Runners up in the Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Award 2011 and been exhibited at Coco Republic Design Center, Museum of Contemporary Art and SupaCenter. The Light Garden is now on show at HE MADE SHE MADE a new concept galley that has opened up on Oxford St.
